Meet Kannan
Kannan Srinivasan is a Senior Finance professional with 30 years of experience in building high performance teams and helping companies achieve and manage high growth in customer service, insurance and retail sector.
Kannan is very committed to public service.
Kannan immigrated from India in the early 90s and has been a Loudoun resident for 25 Years. He worked for a global insurance leader in finance and performance management. He was then one of the early finance team member for a Sterling based retail and financial services company which grew multi-fold into an industry pioneer and he played several key roles in the growth and support of the business and its subsequent merger with current Industry leader. Kannan recently joined Josè Andrès Think Food Group to lead Finance and Analytics.
He completed his Bachelors in Commerce from University of Madras, India and was one of the youngest to complete Chartered Accountant professional certification (equivalent of CPA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is an International Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He had a successful public accounting practice helping companies of all size in improving operational efficiencies and in tax and attest functions. He did Masters in Accounting from Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia, where he specialized in cost/performance management for service industries and did research on government financial management focusing on financial reporting for Local and State Governments assisting Dr. Jesse Hughes, an international expert in governmental financial management.
Previously, Kannan served as Treasurer of Loudoun County Democratic Committee (LCDC) for 3 terms (6 years) and was recently its finance chair. He was Secretary of Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia for 2 terms (4 years).
Kannan is an alumnus of the Sorensen Institute of Political Leadership at the University of Virginia (CTP 2018). As a community leader, Kannan worked with County Board of Supervisors on AAPI month proclamation for the first time in Loudoun. Kannan’s hobbies are history, visiting museums and national/local parks.
Kannan lives in Loudoun County with his wife Jayashree (Jay). Jay is an alumna of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and George Mason University, Virginia and is passionate about advocacy for disabilities and cancer research.
Kannan's parents were proud school teachers who instilled the value of public service and he believes in education being the greatest equalizer and the best investment for our community's future.
